All About Cloth Wipes!

Did you know that Pumpkin’s Diaper Delivery also offers reusable cloth wipes? Yupand it’s just as easy and convenient as our diaper service! Just toss those old wipes into the diaper pail along with our cloth diapersand get them exchangefor clean ones on your delivery day! So simple, and another great way to help cut down on the environmental impact made from tossing all of those disposable wipes into the garbage. Plusour cloth wipes are a large, practical sizeand made using a soft cotton/bamboo blend that is gentle on baby’s delicate skin.

Now, you’re probably thinking that reusable cloth wipes are going to be a huge hassle to use and store, but you would honestly be surprised at how easy the transition from disposables to reusables can be – read ahead for a brief run-down on how things might work!

Storing Cloth Wipes

Wipes can either be stored dry and moistened as needed, or they can be pre-moistened with your solution of choice (more details below), so that everything’s ready to go for quick diaper changes. If you’re storing the wipes pre-moistened, just be sure to rotate the wipes regularly, and toss any wipes into the laundry that have not been used within 7 days to ensure that nothing gross starts to grow!

Pre-moistened wipes can be stored in either a wipes warmer…

…or in an empty disposable wipes container, for easy access!

If you prefer to wet-as-you-go for the wipes, options include running a few wipes under the tap, storing warm water in a thermos at the change table, or using your solution of choice in a spray bottle! The options are almost endless, and it all comes down to finding what works best for your family’s routine.

Wipes Solution

Good ol’ water

If you want to keep it very simple and convenient, then warm water will be your best friend!

Recipe 1

1 Tbsp coconut oil

1 Tbsp Dr Bronner’s Liquid Castile Soap

1 cup water

2 drops lavender essential oil (optional)

This solution works really well for helping to wipe away those sticky ‘peanut-buttery’ poops off of baby’s bum!  Yeah…if you haven’t yet experienced these poops yet, then you will definitely appreciate this recipe all the more when your time comes! As with any homemade recipe that calls for the use of essential oils, these fragrant ingredients are completely optional, along with which oils you use and how much you choose to add – so feel free to experiment, if you desire!

Receipe 2

1/8 cup olive oil

1 ½ cup water

1 tsp baby shampoo (like Dr Bronner’s)

2 drops tea tree oil

4 drops lavender oil

Again, the addition of essential oils is optional, but this formula definitely benefits from including them!

Pumpkin Wipe Bits

Wait, what?! Yes, we also retail wipe bits (or cubes)! Made with 100% natural ingredients, these bits are available in both lavender and unscented. All you need to do is simply drop the wipe bit into 2 cups of hot water and stir for an instant wipe solution!

Liniment and Sprays

There are also several different ready-made solutions available on the retail market. My favourite to carry in the diaper bag is actually liniment from Les produits de MaYa! This cleansing lotion is exceptionally rich, and leaves the skin feeling beautifully, buttery smooth. It also gets bonus points from me for being a Canadian-made product!

There are also several spray versions available: The Honest Company’s Soothing Bottom Wash and Rocky Mountain Soap Company’s Baby Bum Spray are two such varieties that come in handy little spray bottles!

And there you have it! Some quick and easy ideas for introducing cloth wipes along with your cloth diapers. If you’ve got more questions for us regarding cloth wipes, solutions, or are curious about our cloth wipe delivery program, feel free to contact us here at Pumpkin’s Diaper Delivery, and we’ll be happy to help you out!
